How to Navigate the Aginet App

Modified on Tue, 28 Jan at 5:57 AM

This article will teach you how to navigate and use your Aginet app to see if your router is online, see which devices are connected to the internet, run a speed test, and set up basic parental controls.

(If you are looking for a step-by-step guide to setting up your router, please see this article for details.)

See if Your Router is Online:

If you haven’t already done so, you can download the TP-Link Aginet app onto your phone using the links below.

Download for Apple

Download for Android

Once you’ve downloaded it, please open up the app on your device and sign in.

After logging in, the app will take you right to the main “Network” page.  If you see a message on your screen saying “everything looks good,” then that means that your router is connected to the internet and the app doesn’t see any issues!  If the app sees that your router is disconnected from the internet, your screen will say “we couldn’t find your network.”  For basic troubleshooting steps, please see this article

See Which Devices Are Connected to the Internet:

While you’re on the main “Network” page, you can scroll down until you see the title “Online Clients,” followed by a list of devices that you have set up in your home.

Another way to access a list of your devices is by clicking on the router icon on the main “Network” page.  The app will take you to a different screen to show you more details for that specific router, and will also show you a list of “Connected Clients” right below that.  If one of your devices is not connected to the internet, it will show up as disconnected in these lists or it might not show up at all.

We do not block the connection to specific devices, so if you aren’t seeing a device connected, you might need to troubleshoot to see whether that device’s wifi hardware is working. Troubleshooting personal devices is outside the scope of our support.

Run a Speed Test

On your main “Network” home page, you’ll see a little icon in the bottom right corner of your screen that says “More.”  Click on that, and it will take you to a new screen.  Click on the button that says “Test Internet Speed,” and then lastly, click on the “Test Speed” button.  The app will then automatically run a speed test and show you the upload and download speeds after a minute or two. Then you can scroll down on the screen to see additional information.

Set up Basic Parental Controls

From your main “Network” page, you will see a little icon on the very bottom of your screen (in the middle) that says “Family.”  Click on that, and it will take you to a screen titled “Parental Controls.”  In this area of the app, you can set up different profiles for each of your children, and then manage their devices, screen time, and limit their internet access for each specific profile.

To create a new profile, click on the “+” in the upper right corner, then choose a name to title it with (could be the specific name of your child).  Select their age range from the drop-down menu, and then you can select an avatar for their profile.

Next, you will need to select a device from the list that comes up.  This is a list of all the devices that your router has ever seen connected to the internet.  Please select the device(s) that correspond with the child you are creating a profile for.

Once you have finished creating their profile, it will take you to a screen with additional settings that you can customize.

  • Under “Filtered Content,” you can filter the adult content that your children have access to.
  • Under “Blocked Content,” you can add specific keywords to their profile, in order to block certain websites that contain those keywords.
  • Under “Bedtime,” you can adjust the time from when they go to sleep to when they wake up, so that they won’t have access to the internet once their bedtime arrives.  You can choose different settings for “Weekdays” and “Weekends.”
  • Under “Time Limit,” you can customize how much time each child can have access to the internet in a given day, and you can change those settings for “Weekdays” and “Weekends.”

We’re excited for you to begin customizing your Aginet app settings, and we hope that this article will enable you to set it up with ease!
