If you are experiencing internet connection issues, here are some simple, first steps that you can take from home to help!
First off, start by locating your power injector – it is a small white rectangular box, probably located between your router and the wall, or in your basement attached to a stud. (See photo below for reference.)
Once you’ve found the injector, please unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for 10-20 seconds, then plug it back into the wall. It will take a few minutes for the power injector to restart and reconnect. There should be a little white light on the power injector – if that does not come on after you have power cycled, please let us know.
While you’re waiting for the power injector to reconnect, you can move on to step two!
Please locate your router and perform the same step that you took with the power injector. Unplug the cord from the wall outlet, wait for 10-20 seconds, then plug it back in. (Note: please make sure you are unplugging the power cord from the wall, not pressing the reset button on your router.) Once you plug the router back into the wall, it may take a minute or two for it to reconnect and for you to see a solid light come back on.
Please also verify that all the cables on your router and power injector are snug, that nothing has gotten moved to a different port or loosened, and that the outlets they are plugged into are receiving power, that no breakers have tripped, etc. Sometimes the outlet that the power injector is plugged into will need to be reset by pushing the reset button on it if it is a GFCI outlet.
Once you have finished these steps, go ahead and check your devices to see if you are connected back to the internet. You are welcome to power cycle your power injector and router at any time, so feel free to take these steps whenever you are experiencing a connection issue.
