Here are our suggestions on routers. Please feel free to let us know if you have any further questions by sending an email to support@ascentbb.com

If you're a "high-end" or "power" user, which basically means streaming HD/4k TV/movies on multiple devices simultaneously, and/or you're a big gamer, I would definitely suggest a performance tri-band router. Otherwise, you may notice some devices slowing down due to the fact that the router can't communicate well with all of them at the same time. Some we would suggest are:

ASUS RC-AC5300
TP-Link Archer C5400X
Linksys MR9000

Also, wireless AX technology (known as WiFi 6) is becoming more mainstream. These routers are much faster than previous AC technology, however, they are expensive and only the latest cell phones and computers can take advantage of this new wireless standard. Here are some good AX routers:

AMPLIFI Alien (can be used as standalone, or in a mesh system)
Linksys MX5 Velop (can also be used as a standalone router)
TP-Link Archer AX6000
Linksys MR9600

Those gaming routers and WiFi 6 routers above have fancy technology to make streaming with multiple devices excellent.

If you're not a high-end user but have a larger house or just want really good coverage, you can use a "Mesh Network" system. They're fairly easy to set up when following the guides they come with. Some that we recommend are:

AMPLIFI HD Mesh System
Eero Pro + Beacons
TP-Link Deco Mesh System

You can also just purchase the core router (without the mesh points) from either mesh system above and use it as a stand alone router. The AMPLIFI would be better in that case––but either will work for light-duty use. If you go that route, you can always purchase and add the mesh points later if you decide to. If you're looking for some simple, cost-effective routers that will still work fairly well, here are some others:

D-Link AC2600 DIR-882
TP-Link Archer A10 (AC2600)
Linksys EA7300

There are many routers to choose from; hopefully this will help give you some ideas. You can definitely find cheaper routers, but you will likely run into weak wireless signals or slower speeds over wireless in general. Most of these listed are available on places like Amazon or locally at BestBuy, Wal-mart, etc.

Hope this was helpful!
